Strategy of the national Data protection Commision (NPDC) for 2018

We provide a brief overview of the important elements of this strategy:

  • Guidance publications and awareness-raising for companies and individuals;
  • Enhancing the transparency of data controllers, subcontractors and the NCDP towards data subjects;
  • Proactive and thematic controls relating to compliance with the new obligations of the GDPR, in particular the DPO function and the organisational and technical measures put in place (registers, impact assessments, etc.);
  • Reactive controls following complaints or incidents (video surveillance, geolocation, advertising and marketing)

 

We would like to draw your attention to the professional qualities of the DPO, namely:

  •  Legal knowledge (Article 37(5), GDPR);
  • Expertise in the field of national and European data protection legislation and practices, as well as a thorough knowledge of the GDPR (WP29, guidelines for DPOs);
  • Good understanding of information systems (WP29, guidelines for DPOs);
  • Knowledge of the industry and organizations (WP29, DPO guidelines).
